Description

Introduction

The ABB BCI/S1.1.1 (Product ID: 2CDG110222R0011) is a specialized DIN-Rail mounted Modular DIN-Rail Component (MDRC) designed to establish a direct interface between a KNX TP bus system and primary HVAC plant equipment, such as a heat generator or chiller. Operating within the KNX AC Controller category, this unit facilitates seamless transmission of set point adjustments and operational feedback between building management networks and thermal plant hardware.

ABB BCI/S1.1.1 KNX boiler chiller interface

Featuring 5 binary input channels and 3 output channels, the device combines analog signal control with robust switching relays. The ABB BCI/S1.1.1 processes incoming set point commands from the KNX bus and converts them into an analog output signal, while simultaneously managing equipment status, pump enabling, and potential-free feedback monitoring without requiring manual unit operation.

Key Features

  • Purpose-built interface for KNX TP (twisted pair) bus systems.
  • 1 Analog output channel (0…10V) for HVAC set point transmission.
  • 2 Integrated relay outputs rated at 5A (1 for main plant enable, 1 for pump control).
  • 5 Binary input channels for monitoring status via potential-free contacts.
  • DIN-Rail (MDRC) installation format with IP20 degree of protection.
  • Full compatibility with the software-based ABB i-bus Tool for advanced diagnostics.
  • Zero battery requirement and non-C-load output rating.

Benefits

  • Delivers accurate set point or set point adjustment temperature signaling to chillers and heat generators via a 0…10V analog output.
  • Provides dedicated operational control using a 5A relay output to switch or enable/disable the primary heat generator or chiller.
  • Includes a second 5A relay output specifically rated for switching the associated circulation pump on and off.
  • Enables comprehensive system monitoring using 5 binary inputs designed for potential-free status contacts across the plant and pump circuits.
  • Improves operational oversight by integrating 3 pump-specific binary status inputs into the circulation pump control logic.
  • Accelerates system commissioning and diagnostic routines through support for the ABB i-bus Tool.

Catalog Description: BCI/S1.1.1 Boiler/Chiller Interface, 1-fold, MDRC
Long Description: As interface between the KNX system and a heat generator or chiller. Via an analog output (0…10V) the set point or set point adjustment temperature can be transmitted to the heat generator/chiller. The set point itself is received via KNX. Via two binary inputs the device can monitor the status of the heat generator/chiller (via potential free contacts) and send it on the KNX bus. A relay output (5A) is included to switch or enable/disable the heat generator/chiller. With an additional relay output (5A) the pump of the heat generator/chiller can be switched on and off. Via 3 binary inputs it is possible to monitor the status of the pump (via potential free contacts) and integrate these feedback into the control of the pump. The device supports the ABB i-bus Tool for advanced diagnosis and improved commissioning.
